About the Races
The 2nd Annual Call of Nature Adventure Race returns to Withlacoochee River Park in 2018!
Hank Pogorzelski returns as course designer for the race. Last year Hank designed a course that was enjoyed by everyone, and this year he brings new an exciting locations to the race.
We will have adventure races in 3 categories; Family, Sport, and Elite. And new this year… trail running! For those of you runners who are looking for a nice cool trail run, we will also be offering a 5k and 10k trail runs.
Trail Runs – Withlacoochee River Park offers some beautiful trails, so for those of you not ready to jump into adventure racing just yet, we are going to introduce 5K and 10K trail runs to the event. The trail runs will be ‘true’ trail runs, meaning racers will carry their own water and nutrition. Come out and be ready for some amazing views. You may also get a little dirty.
Family Race – This race is fun for the entire family and is designed for new racers and racers with children who want to participate. You will need bikes for everyone – we will provide canoes, paddles, and life jackets for the paddle section. Expect 1-2 miles on foot, 4-6 on bike, and about a mile in the canoe. Most teams will finish in about 1 1/2 hours after having a great time.
Sport Race – If you are new to adventure racing or just want a race that can be completed in under 4 hours, this is your race. You will want a team – and you will be trekking, biking, and paddling. Expect to be doing each for about one hour and also to have it all mixed up (not continuous). This is a great introduction to adventure racing if you are looking to try it out.
Elite Race – This race is designed for more experienced athletes and racers that want a true challenge, not just terrain – but also distance. Racers should expect navigation challenges, interesting and difficult terrain and possible skills challenges.
